The apothecary of Los Arcos was of great importance because it supplied goods not only to the town itself but also to other nearby towns and many others in the Berrueza valley. Frequently customers, especially those from out of town, paid in kind. This led to a regular fee being established with those towns or with the people from the local sanctuaries and estates. Also of interest is the great variety of products, some of them natural (vegetable, animal, mineral) and picked for their healing properties, and others created by the apothecary himself following a secret family recipe and handed down from one generation to the next
