Abstract

Juan de Echeverría. The aim of these pages is to highlight the peculiar personality of this rural priest whose passion for politics, in particular Carlos V’s traditionalist cause and aspiration to become king after his brother Fernando VII died, eventually led him to succeed in presiding over the Junta Gubernativa de Navarra, and later, over the Diputación del Reino. His commitment was so great that after the Vergara agreement of 1839, he did not want to know anything about this pact and preferred to exile himself rather than walk away from his principles. The dates of his burial and will be let known.
