Abstract

The Pedagogical Conferences are the first systematic model to update teaching that has been implemented in this country. It was the Normal Schools, regulated in 1887, that were in charge of organising them, and they evolved unevenly in the different Spanish provinces. Their decadence started only a few years later, and from 1905 on the prominence in permanent training of teachers began to focus on the Inspection. This article aims at analyzing the Pedagogical Conferences held in Navarre from 1887 to 1901, the way they abide by the regulations, the issues dealt with, the contents put forward, the speakers and the attendants. A short biographical profile of the most prominent speakers is also included in it.
